Hannelore "Honey" Fransen, age 68, of Prairie du Sac passed away peacefully at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. She was born June 22, 1955 in Heilbronn, Germany to the late Friedrich and Maria (Westle) Hornung. She grew up in Heilbronn, Germany and attended school and graduated in 1969 from Wilhelm Hauff Schule and went on to attend Kaumaenmiensche, Beruffschulle. A short time later she met her future husband, Anthony "Tony" Fransen who was serving in the U.S. Army in Germany; they were married in Heilbronn Germany on June 14, 1974. After Tony's discharge from the service they lived in Rice Lake, WI before settling in Prairie du Sac in 1976. Honey raised her daughters, Nicole and Bianca at home and later went on to work for Kmart and later Target in Middleton where she was responsible for the inventory and shipping and receiving of store goods retiring in 2014.
Honey also enjoyed her time spent as a troop leader with the girl scouts and being a mentor to young girls. She was a talented knitter and quilter and really enjoyed doing crafts. Honey was proud of her heritage and enjoyed her trips to Germany to see family and entertaining them when they visited here and weekends at the annual Germanfest held in Milwaukee.
Honey is survived by her husband, Tony; daughters, Nicole "Nicky" (Jeff) Millard and their daughter, Mikayla; and Bianca (Jarret) Brutlag; her siblings all of Germany, Margaret Kapp, Ursula (Hardy Kosing) Pontseele, Gertude Popp, Georg Hornung, Bernard (Adele) Hornung; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was recently preceded in death by a brother in Germany, Fritz Hornung.
As per Honey's wishes, a private celebration of her life will be held.
Honey's family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the caregivers and nurses at Maplewood for the care she received.
