Harlen G. Slotty of Prairie du Sac, WI went to his heavenly home on September 15, 2014 at the age of 84. Born near Leland, WI to Gustav and Eleonora (Schwanke) Slotty, he grew up in the same area working on the family farm. Uncle Sam called him up in 1952 to the United States Army. He belonged to the 38th Infantry & Scout Dog Platoon stationed in Korea. Harlen married Diane Stieve of Baraboo/Wisconsin Dells in 1958. He worked various jobs until he found his calling as a sheet metal worker, installing Furnace and A.C. for Ace Hardware and then Prairie Plumbing and Heating, both in Sauk City.
Harlen enjoyed traveling, fishing and motorcycling with his buddies. He shared good times with friends and family playing cards and horseshoes. He loved animals, especially his dog, Scruffy. Harlen was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Terry (Sue); their sons, Alex & Keith, Prairie du Sac; his daughter, Marlea (Gary) Louis; their children, Stephanie, Jason, Michael and Rylie, of Prairie du Sac; grandsons, Cayden and Blake Arndt of Hollandale. He is further survived by great-grandsons, Evan, Adam and Owen Louis. Remaining also, are his sister, Doris Koenig of Reedsburg and her four children and families; brother in-law Gary (Kathy) Stieve, Gary's four sons and families; a special nephew in-law, Eric (Karen) Taylor and family as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randall; a daughter, Lori Lee Arndt; his in-laws, Robert and Helen Stieve; sister in-law, Sandra Sersland; and a brother in-law, Leonard Koenig.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Oak Street, Prairie du Sac with Military Rites accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
