Harold "Nick" Frey, age 91, left this world Saturday March 19, 2016, to be with his sons in Heaven. Harold was born on October 16, 1924 in Sauk City, the son of George and Anna (Lochner) Frey. He was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Taylor on November 17, 1949 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, Roxbury. He attended Roxbury Catholic School and Sauk City High School. Nick was drafted into the U.S. Air Force in April 1943 stationed two and a half years at Atlantic City for basic training. Later based at Monmouth, New Jersey and Karachi, India air base and Burma. Harold was employed by Ballweg Chevrolet, in the auto body trade, for many years. He was an avid sportsman, very proud of his gardening and loved to read and was a member of St. Norbert Catholic Church, Roxbury.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Phyllis;
his children, Barbara (Al) Hellem, Christine (Bob) Sheehan, Thomas (Lynet) , Kevin (Karen), Brian, Monica Lauer, Colleen (Mark) Sprecher, Tim, Jeannie, and Mitch; 20 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Matilda Schepp, Bernard (Delores) , Phillip (Rita) , Howard (Irene), Roman (Carol), James (Billie), David (Judy). Further survived by many nieces nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Steven and Keith, parents, father and mother in law, two brothers, Ralph and George Jr. and brother in law, Charles Schepp, and Nick's beloved cat Phoebe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, Roxbury, with Father Alex Navarro officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 9:00 am until 11:15 am.
His family would like to thank the nurses and cna's and especially his granddaughters, Nicole, Kimberly and Bridget, who helped care for their grandfather while he was at Maplewood, and also his favorite nurse, Wyatt.
