Harold E. "Harry" Sawyer, age 90 passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born May 6, 1918 in Melrose, WI., the son of the late William and Mary (Dean) Sawyer. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Anderson on August 20, 1938. Harry farmed for most of his life in Westpoint Township, where he served as the township assessor for 46 years. He was very proud to have earned his Eagle Scout in his youth, but was most proud of his family and always had an open door to family and friends. Harry was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; 4 children, Larry (April) Sawyer, Tom (Connie) Sawyer, Marie (Gary) Breunig and Meredith (David) Turner; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Joyce) Sawyer; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Prairie du Sac, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 with Pastor Sally Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Garden Bluff Cemetery, Westpoint Township. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church.
