Harold Kirk, age 89 of Prairie du Sac, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. He was born on a farm near Andrew, Iowa on December 24, 1920. Harold led a life of devotion to his family and Catholic faith. He served our country in the Navy during World War II. Harold and his wife operated the Coast to Coast hardware store in Sauk City for over 25 years after relocating from Monticello, Iowa. Previously he ran Westside Grocery in Maquoketa, Iowa. He shared 43 years with his wife Rita, with whom he had one son Franklin. He was Eucharistic minister at St. Aloysius parish for over 35 years and was a member of Lachmund-Cramer V.F.W. Post 7694, Optimist Club, and Knights of Columbus. During retirement he cherished visiting with his grandchildren and was able to watch each grow into young adulthood. During his free time he applied his distinct talent for craftsmanship to countless woodworking projects. Perhaps his most cherished, a miniature wagon collection, is displayed by the Sauk Prairie Historical Society. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and church dinners. His friendly and receptive demeanor will be missed.
