Obituary

Harold 'Hal' Lincoln Gibson, age 63, of Sauk City, WI passed away in the comfort of his own home on Friday, May 9th, 2025.  He was born in Portsmouth, VA, to James and Freda (Patterson) Gibson on Aug. 26, 1961. He was a graduate of Sparta High School in Sparta, IL and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in History from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL.

Like his father, Hal enlisted in the military, proudly serving in the United States Army from 1985 to 1988.

He was united in marriage to Connie Luher on March 8th, 2010, joining a loving but chaotic family and proudly became a Wisconsinite.

Hal enjoyed gaming, studying history- especially the Civil War Era- Westerns, family time, and he was a member of Graceway Church, Prairie du Sac, WI. During college summer breaks, he served as a camp counselor at Easter Seals Day Camps as well as spending one summer as camp counselor at a Sleep Away Camp for Children with Significant Physical Health Disabilities. After his time serving in the military, he made a career of providing security services to several companies in Illinois and Wisconsin.  He remained a big kid at heart his whole life and loved spending time with nieces, nephews, grandsons, great-nephews and great-nieces and was always "up for" whatever adventure or game they came up with.

He is survived by his mother, Freda M Gibson; his wife, Connie; daughters Sarah G See (Alex), Abigail A Luher, Rachel M Luher, son Daniel Luher (Aidee), and grandsons Benjamin, Timothy, Levi, and David. His sister Lourie Gibson Bleem (Steven), nephew Skylar Bleem, niece Lacey Bleem, niece Ashley Bleem Swails (Jeff), great nephews Declan Swails and Lincoln Swails (not yet arrived). His brother James A Gibson (Penny), nephew Jimmy Gibson (Nichole), niece April Gibson Zimmermann (Jeff), and great nephews Wyatt and Drew, and great nieces Madi and Emma. His sister Sandra J Gibson Mahon (Jeff), niece Dr. Emily Mahon Grove (Michael), and nephew Nicholas J Mahon (Kelsey). And lastly, he is survived by his faithful companion and best friend, his dog Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Gibson.

A Memorial Service for Hal will be held on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 at 11:00 am at Graceway Church, 65 13th St., Prairie du Sac, WI 53578.  A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service at the church.  Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694 will follow in the Sauk City Cemetery.

Hal's family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the U.W. Hospital Staff and Transplant Team, Prairie Clinic Staff, the St. Croix Hospice (especially Tammy, Rain, and Kelsey) for their in-home care of Hal, and also to their friends and family for their prayers, thoughts, and support.
