Harold Fred Tank, age 78, died on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born in Madison on April 18, 1930, to the late Fred and Dorothy (Liebetrau) Tank. Harold enlisted in the United States Air Force. He married Carol Welke June 16, 1951. Harold was the operator of the Merrimac Colsac II Ferry for 16 years. Later he worked for the Department of Agriculture and Revenue in Madison as a maintenance engineer. In his spare time, Harold enjoyed woodworking, painting, fishing, reading and was an avid Cubs fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and grandchildren. Harold was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac. He is survived by his wife, Carol of Prairie du Sac; son, Paul (Debbie) Tank of Merrimac; six grandchildren, Josh (Jessica) Hermanson of Portage, Jason (Nicole Vakharia) Tank of Cottage Grove, Nathan Tank of Merrimac, Alicia Hermanson of Merrimac, Danielle (Vicente) Paulino of Portage and William Hermanson of Portage; and four great grandchildren, Payton, Ryan, Tre and Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Tank-Pulvermacher on June 12, 1989; a brother, Homer C. Tank; and a stepmother, Lulu (Johnson) Tank. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac with Pastor Sally Mitchell officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Cemetery in Middleton
