Obituary

Harriet H. Kippley, age 79, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born in Sauk City, April 9, 1932 to the late Arnold and Alma (Blum) Werla. Harriet married Vernon J. Kippley on November 17, 1948. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1997.

Harriet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed playing cribbage, bowling, snowmobiling, quilting and her trips north. Harriet and her family were very proud to have established the Roxbury Valley Trap Club. She was a hard-working farm wife who will be remembered for the chickens she and Vernon raised. Harriet was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury.


She is survived by her 8 children, Sandra (Wayne) Bolton, Kristine (Richard) Frey, Liane (Michael) Walsh, Nick (Joan Cole) Kippley, Fred (Linda) Kippley, Ken (Jess Hasheider) Kippley, Paul (Ann) Kippley, all of the Sauk Prairie area, and Edwin (Theresa) Kippley of Green Bay; 13 grandchildren, Terry (Alicia) Bolton, Mark (Melissa) Bolton, Scott (Jessica) Frey, Craig (Tammy) Frey, Kelly (Jay) Breunig, Nathan Walsh, Melissa (Tim) Kempen, Lora, Emma, Evan, Garrett, Charles and Louis Kippley; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dolores Wood and Arlene "Pat" Baier; and two brothers-in-law, Ralph (Ethel) Kippley and Charles Hausladen.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Dennis; sisters, Lorain (Daniel) Ott and Bernice Hausladen; brothers-in-law, Maynard Wood, Werner Baier and Leon Kippley; and a sister-in-law Dorothy (Art) Huerth.


The family would like to thank the staff at Meriter Hospital, Dr. Joseph Spurgeon, Dr. Barclay E. Shultz, and Carlene Roelke for their loving care of Harriet.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City and from 10:00 am until 10:45 am the day of service.
