Obituary

Harvey Christian Gieck, age 88, of Denzer, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 at Maplewood Nursing Home, Sauk City.



He was born March 2, 1921 on a farm in Honey Creek to Christian and Edna (Zick) Gieck. Harvey graduated from Prairie du Sac High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Beatrice Kleinschmidt of North Freedom. They lived on a farm north of Denzer, where Harvey was a farmer and a carpenter.



Harvey was a lifetime member of the VFW in Sauk City and the American Legion, Post 172 in North Freedom. He was also a member of the Denzer United Methodist Church.



Harvey is survived by children Elaine Biech (Dan Greene) of Virginia Beach, VA, Duane "Butch" (Mary), North Freedom, Lorraine (Gale) Thompson, North Freedom, Doris Ann (Dave) Hooks, Spring Green, and Archie (Terry), North Freedom. He is also survived by a brother, Orville, a sister, June, eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beatrice, in 1990, a daughter, Nancy in 1953, a son, Gary in 1983, a grandson, Shane in 1988, and a brother, Lyle.



Funeral services will be held at DENZER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 with Pastor Becky Henke officiating. Burial will be in the Denzer Cemetery. Visitation will be at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 5:00pm until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2009.
