Obituary

Hazel Jane Boettcher, age 83, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 25, 2013. She was born November 17, 1929 in Prairie du Sac Township, the daughter of the late Robert and Alma (Bonesack) Patterson. She married Verlyn R. Boettcher on August 28, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2005.

Hazel enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed feeding and watching her birds, outside flowers, watching the white deer, reading, crossword puzzles, and having the boys for lunch at deer hunting. She worked at many different places, including Badger Ordnance, Wisconsin Dairies, Flambeau, Ray-O-Vac and Wetzel's Eggs House. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Boettcher's Bar in Leland for 10 years, then went on to work for the Sauk Prairie School District as head cook at Tower Rock for 17 1/2 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Sauk City, and Plain American Legion Auxiliary.


She is survived by six children, Jerry (Mary) Boettcher of Blackhawk, Ken (Sandy) Boettcher of Plain, Rick (Diane) Boettcher of Prairie du Sac, Daryl Boettcher of Lake City, MN, Butch (Sandy) Boettcher of Prairie du Sac and Jeff (Dawn Dyke) Boettcher of Eagle River; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alma Krenz; two brothers, Robert and Paul (Maureen) Patterson; other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law Linda and Rich LeMoine; a sister, Ethel Johnson; and two brothers, John and LaVern Patterson.


A memorial service will be held at FIRST UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Sauk City Cemetery. Following interment a luncheon will be held in the church basement.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First United Church of Christ, Plain American Legion Auxiliary, or Plain Ambulance Association. Hazel's family would like to thank Dr. Steven Johnson and Home Health Hospice for being there for her.
