Obituary

Helen F. Neumaier, age 86, died peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Waunakee Manor, surrounded by her family. She was born in Roxbury on January 1, 1922, the daughter of the late Werner and Alvina (Breunig) Marx. She was united in marriage to Aaron "Bud" Neumaier on June 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2007. Helen was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church, where she attended St. Norbert's School and was a member of the Christian Women. She worked for many years as a cook at the Dorf Haus and Lake Wisconsin Country Club. Helen enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, canning, gardening and cooking for her family and friends. She is survived by nine children, Susan (Randy) Pilgreen of Poplar Grove, IL, Jane (Jerry) Maly of Middleton, Barb (Bill) Ziegler of Waunakee, Carol (Gary) Brickl of Roxbury, Frank (June) Neumaier of Lodi, Helene (Stan) Zander of Cross Plains, Chris (Jon) Plumer of Lodi, Mary Beth (Rick) Kaltenberg of Waunakee, Steven (Joyce) Neumaier of Roxbury; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Florence Rupel, Marcus (Doris) Marx, Mary Walsh, Virginia (Charles) Bongard, Jean (Tom) Walsh; 2 sisters-in-law, Pat Naumaier and Angie (Elmer) Fish; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerod Pilgreen; siblings, Vincent Marx, Bernadine Treinen, Eileen Exterovich and infant sister, Betty Ann. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. NORBERT'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Roxbury, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2008 with Fr. Jared Hood officiating. Burial will be in St. Norbert's Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2008 and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established. Helen's family would like to thank the staff of Waunakee Manor for their loving care and for making Helen comfortable in her final days.
