Obituary

Helen Joyce Turner, age 69, of Roxbury/Sauk City, and Kewanee, IL went home to rest on Friday, February 10, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 29, 1942 in Kewanee, Il to Harry and Frances (Mahnesmith) Kalis. At age twelve she was adopted by Pastor Gordon and Doris Holmen of Florida, where she joined a second loving family. She graduated from Lake Wales (Fl) High School in 1960.She spent the majority of her adult life as a homemaker raising eight loving children.

Survivors include sons Wesley McNaught, of Sauk City, WI, Gordon McNaught, of La Crosse, WI , Harvey McNaught, of Oregon, WI, and Ignacio Bermudez, of Sauk City, WI; daughters Lisa McNaught, of La Crosse, WI, Marilyn (Mike) Swearingen, of Pekin, Il, Maria Bermudez, of Sauk City, WI, and Guadalupe (Jasen Purvis) Bermudez, of Verona, WI. Grandchildren include Jesse, Christopher, Andrew, Scott, Allison, Joseph McNaught; Ignacio, Austin, Blake, and Mandalynn Bermudez; and Reyna Purvis. She is further survived by her step-mother Lorraine Holmen; brothers John (Jimmy) Larson, William (Gail) Holmen, Drs. James and John Olson, Walt (Dawn), John (Priscilla), and Stanley (Elizabeth) VerVynck; and sisters Effie(Neil) Nearing, Hazel (Larry) Williams, and Anita Gustafson; several in-laws and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband Bob; parents; brothers Gene and Mike; sisters Janet, Demitra, and Karen.

She enjoyed bingo, wrestling, watching NCIS, sports, and most of all the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Drs. Hupp and Wojdyla, the nurses and staff at St. Mary's hospital, the hospice care workers that helped make her journey as pleasant as possible. We love you so very much mom, and miss you more than you can ever imagine. Thank you for all you did, and all the laughs we had. She expressed regret that she didn't have anything to leave her children, but she did leave us this most precious gift of all, her love…

A gathering will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Hooverson Funeral Home, 702 Emily Rd., Mazomanie.
