Herman V. Statz, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie, with his family at his side. He was born on June 30, 1916 in Martinsville, WI, the son of the late William N. and Gertrude (Breunig) Statz. He was united in marriage to Faith E. Allain in 1940. The couple farmed in Mazomanie until moving to Westpoint Township in 1948. Herman and Faith farmed in Westpoint for many years until Herman began working as a carpenter and builder. Herman and Faith have lived in Prairie du Sac since 1968. They enjoyed traveling and after retiring, enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. He is survived by Faith, his wife of 68 years; two sons, Vincent (Kathleen) and Ronald (Carol); a daughter, Shirley (Tom) Storandt; two grandson, Timothy (Jennifer) and Jeffrey (Cynthia); a great-granddaughter, Michelle; a great-grandson, Cole; a sister-in-law, Ann Statz; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Ralph; an infant daughter, Faye Ann; five sisters, Margaret (Henry) Wipperfurth, Antoinette (Adrian) Virnig, Armella (George) Acker, Bertilla Statz and Helen Statz; four brothers, Anton, Leo, Oscar (Monica) and Edmund Statz. A Memorial Service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009 with Pastor Dan Lindsey officiating. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in St. Barnabas Cemetery, Mazomanie. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established. The family thanks the staff at Maplewood for their many years of care and kindness shown to Herman.
