Howard Lundgren, age 87, of Prairie du Sac died peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at home surrounded by his family with the help of Home Health United Hospice care. He was born on October 8, 1923 in Bruce, Wisconsin, the son of the late Axel and Alma (Mundahl) Lundgren. Howard was one of eleven children. He was united in marriage to Lois Raschein on June 1, 1945.


Howard had a great faith that he accepted at a young age, which was the same faith of his parents. He was an avid farmer in the township of Honey Creek since 1945 and his interest in farming continued until the time of his death.


He is survived by his wife, Lois; three children, David (Debra) of Prairie du Sac, Merilee (Dan Leitzke) of Kimberly, Wisconsin and Dale (Margaret) of Valencia, CA; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirlee in 1970.


A funeral service will be held at SAUK-PRAIRIE RIVER ARTS CENTER (at Sauk Prairie High School), 105 9th St., Prairie du Sac, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011. Burial will be in Sauk Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011 and also at the River Arts Center on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
