Obituary

Hugh Nelson, age 78, died on Friday, August 5, 2011 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born in Madison on February 27, 1933, the son of the late John C. and Letitia (Powel) Nelson. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War from 1953 - 1955. He was united in marriage to Theo Crosby on June 11, 1955. Hugh was employed as a diesel mechanic, retiring from Cook's Truck Farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and collecting tools.


He is survived by his wife, Theo; a son, Ron (Mary Sue) Nelson of Sault Saint Marie, Michigan; a daughter, Sandra (Jay) Jensen of Sauk City; two grandchildren, Heather (Nicholas) Smith and Tyler Jensen; two sisters-in-law, Marion Foster and Erna Crosby, both of Sauk City; his canine companion, Lilly Mae; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Gilbert Nelson; a sister, Judy Lamberty; step-sister, Delice Johnson; and step-brother, Neal Nelson.


A memorial service will be held at FIRST UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at a later date in the Sauk City Cemetery.
