Obituary

Hunter Lang, age 68, was born May 8, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan. Hunter grew up as the second child of five children of Mariah (Molitor) Lang Braxton and Donald Lang. His siblings, Craig, Suzan, Bonnie, and Stacey grew up with much love, laughs, and games.   After high school, Hunter spent two years at community college in Traverse City before transferring to Michigan State University where he would go on to graduate as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and, most importantly, meet the love of his life, Laura (Kline) Lang.  They wed on June 14, 1981.  To his dying day, he called Laura his beautiful bride.

After graduating from Michigan State University in 1981, Hunter and Laura moved to Prairie du Sac, WI where they built a family together and became pillars of the community. They would have four children, Alex, Amanda, Aaron, and Amy:  "The 4 A's" or "forays," as in, adventure.  And, oh, the adventures they had! Hunter and Laura instilled a love of adventure and travel in their children that lasted through the decades. Hunter retired after practicing veterinary medicine in the greater Sauk Prairie community for 40 years. He was ecstatic when, during his first year of retirement, he calculated his "days at home" as ⅓ of the year, which meant he was living life to the fullest - visiting grandchildren, family, friends, and seeing the world.

Hunter was embedded within the farming community, church and everything to do with his children including attending or coaching their countless sporting events. Hunter continued to be involved in local, state, and national veterinary service even beyond his retirement date.  He had an uncanny knack for remembering names and faces and could start a conversation with anyone or anything (including a wayward cow or two).

Hunter had lived a second lifetime in the nine years between his first heart attack and his second, final, cardiac event.  He died as he lived - cherishing his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, and siblings - constantly calling, texting, and visiting in between his meetings, speaking engagements, and fishing outings.

Hunter Lang is survived by his wife, Laura (Kline) Lang; his mother, Mariah Lang Braxton; his four children, Alex Lang (Tina Wang), Amanda Lang (Matthew Weeks), Aaron Lang (Hannah Keil), and Amy Lang, as well as his four grandchildren, Elliot Lang, Mirabelle Lang, Graham Lang, and Aurora Weeks.  Hunter is also survived by his four siblings, Craig Okerstrom-Lang (Annie), Suzan Lang (Michael), Bonnie Milligan (Randy), and Stacey Hawley (Scott).  Hunter was also the fun-loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Hunter was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lang.
