Obituary

Jack Eugene Kirner, age 87 of Prairie du Sac, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at home on Water Street.   He was born on January 18, 1934 to Benjamin and Clara (Kessler) Kirner.  He was married July 19, 1958 to his bride of 58 years, Patricia Ann Stewart.

Jack was a graduate of Prairie du Sac High School class of 1952.  He then went on to get his Associate Degree in Applied Science in Radio-Television Technology from The Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1954.  Jack began work for Walter Anlauf in radio repair while still in high school and accepted a full position with Anlauf TV and Appliance after college.  He continued with the business as it transferred to  Kirch TV and Appliance.  In the 1970's, the business evolved into J & J Electronics as he partnered with Jim Meyer and eventually became the local Radio Shack in the mid-1980's as he remained co-owner until his retirement.  During this entire time, he also installed many of the areas' business alarm systems and sound systems including the Lake Wisconsin Country Club.  Highlights of his career was installing and maintaining the sound system for the Sauk Prairie Skateland and supplying the sound system for Witwen's  4 th of July and the Eagle Days festivities.  Once retired, he continued to work as a Midwest Regional repair technician for Rascal mobility scooters.  He was an electronics genius as everyone would bring their home and business needs to Jack's Fix It Shop.

In his spare time, he enjoyed rollerskating, camping, ham and shortwave radio, photography and developing holiday family cards, motorcycling and computers as he was an early self-taught programmer.   His biggest life achievement was building a working Tesla Coil from scratch.  He loved vacationing with his family throughout the Wisconsin/Upper Michigan campgrounds especially his favorite site at Devil's Lake.

Survivors include his three children Kurt (Sue) Kirner of Hillsdale, MI; Brian (Michelle) Kirner, Maumelle, AR; Kristine (Thomas) Pressel of Combined Locks, WI; grandchildren Quinn and Clayton Kirner; Jerica and Grant Kirner; Zac and Paige Pejskar and his sister-in-law Barbara (Floyd) Shafer; former daughter in law, Susie Everson Kirner.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Sandra Kay and son Scott Alan.
