Obituary

James "Jimmy" H. Olson, age 79 of Mazomanie, WI passed away peacefully in his home in Mazomanie on November 4, 2021 surrounded by his wife and their 4 children.  He was born on January 5, 1942 in Ridgeway, WI, the son of Milton and Hazel (Linley) Olson. He was blessed to have his sister, Bonnie Olson, by his side his entire life.

He was united in marriage to Rose Anstice on July 20, 1963.  Together they raised 4 children:  Renae Clark (Mike), Rita Gunderson, Jean Donndelinger (Elton Martin) and James, Jr.

Jimmy owned and operated Olson's Standard in Mazomanie for 43 years.  Jimmy was a car guy from beginning to end.  He was happiest fixing a car or behind the wheel.  He drove stock car for 7 years and his happiest years were in the driver's seat.  He was blessed with life-long friendships gained from his passion for cars.  If he wasn't driving, he was fixing.  He was a master at his craft.

He enjoyed their place up north and boating on Castle Rock Lake and Lake Wisconsin.  He was generous with his time with his grandchildren, taking them to sandbars and pulling them endlessly behind the boat.  He never missed a sporting or music event for his children and grandchildren.  He and Rose loved a good road trip traveling across the country and driving Rose to many shopping destinations.  Jimmy enjoyed playing cards with friends and card club.  He and Rose spent winters snowmobiling up north and locally with the snowmobile club.  Jimmy will always be remembered for his unfailing work ethic, his quick smile and generosity to help anyone in a time of need.

His memory will be kept alive by his wife, Rose and their children and his grandchildren who loved him so much:  Daenon Clark, Tanner Clark, Hailey Donndelinger, Matthew Olson, Ryan Donndeliner, Kayla Olson, Mason Martin and Megan Olson.  He had many special people in his life including his sister, Bonnie, Jim Vandeurzen, Herb Klinge, Bruce Roth, Buck Sullivan and special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 10th at 11:00 a.m. at New Heights Lutheran Church, 1705 Center St., Black Earth with interment in the Mazomanie Cemetery, a lunch will follow.  Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, November 9th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy 14 West, Mazomanie or from 10:00-10:45 prior to the funeral at New Heights.

The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice, Fresenius Care Center, Home Health United and many doctors at SSM Health for the loving care and support they provided to Jimmy and his family.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
