James "Jim" Heiney, age 78, passed away at University Hospital in Madison on April 16, 2023, after a long series of illnesses. Jim was born in Madison, WI on April 13, 1945, to the late Orville and Berenice (Walker) Heiney.  Jim graduated from Sauk City High School; class of 1963.  He was a member of the Local 132 International Union of Elevator Constructors and worked as an elevator constructor for 25 years, until he retired from Braun Elevator Service.  Jim enjoyed cooking, grilling, and spending time outdoors both fishing and boating on Lake Wisconsin, and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR racing.  Jim took pride in his jack of all trades handyman skills and could fix just about anything.  Jim, together with his long-time girlfriend, Joyce, enjoyed snow birding in Florida during the cold Wisconsin winters, Sunday drives and most of all, spending time entertaining family and friends.

He is survived by his longtime love, Joyce; his son, David (Sarah) Heiney; grandchildren, David Jr. and Dustin Heiney, Caitlyn (Sarah's Daughter), Lilly, Garrett, and Jakob Brane of Colorado; his siblings, Nancy (Ron) Kuhnau of Rockford, IL and Robert (Kay) Heiney of Portland, OR; Joyce's sons, Wayne Sadek and Will (Ann) Sadek.  He is further survived by nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter; Jamie (Ryan) Brane.

Jim's family would like to thank first responder, Sgt. Andrews, with the Sauk Prairie Police Department and the caretakers at UW Hospital for their help with Jim.

A memorial service will be held on April, 29th, 2023, at 3:30pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, WI.  A visitation will be held from 2:00pm until the time of service.
