James R. Price, age 87 died peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wabasha, Minnesota on February 7, 1929 to Patrick and Pauline (Safford) Price.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lois (Shimniok) Price; and his four children; Mike (Denise) Price, Melody Ballweg, Marcia Price (Johnny Gerbitz) and Jim (Lori) Price; Seven grandchildren; Shelly (Chuck) Hooper, Jamie Ballweg (Dean Kinney), Justin Price (Jason Hiller), Sam Peterson (Kasey McNamer), Megan Price (Josh Doberspike), Kelly Peterson (William Kennedy), and Natalie Price. Three great grandchildren; Paige, Parker Hooper, and Pop Pop's buddy Mikhail, and sister-in law, Arlene Wegner, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was proceded in death by his only sibling, Patricia Krumenauer; a son-in law; Terry Ballweg; brothers-in law, Clayton Eberhart, Glen Wegner, Alois Krumenauer, Harry Shimniok, and Carl Shimniok; and sisters-in law, Elsie Eberhart and Donna Bruflat.
He was a great fisherman who enjoyed fishing with his friend and fishing buddy, Jerry Alt. He and his wife Lois enjoyed deer hunting out on the Moseman farm, and he loved to hike around the woods picking morels. His love for wood working was why he could often be found, out in his shop, building bird houses and feeders among other things. He enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels as they feed on the feeders he built. When his hands were younger he enjoyed whittling. He had a love for a music, and could be found watching TV, with his headphones on, listening to one of his many tapes of different types of music. He was always fixing up things for his children, he could get almost anything running again.
He worked as a construction worker, was also employed at Quality Cleaners, Badger Ordinance, and retired from Mautz Paint after almost 50 years with the company as maintenance manager.
Born is Wabasha Minnesota where the movie "Grumpy Old Men" was filmed, he was often referred to as one them.
Jim enjoyed his life, family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at the FIRST UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016, with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
