James "Jim" Richard Robertson, age 83, passed away at Meriter Hospital on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Jim was born on July 27, 1939, to the late James and Mable (Johnson) Robertson. He graduated from Winona High School; class of 1959. Jim worked various jobs before settling into a 20-year career as the Diesel House Foreman for The Milwaukee Road. He worked in downtown Madison at the roundhouse before transferring to Portage until his retirement in 1992. Even in retirement Jim stayed busy working for The School District of Lodi, Weaver Auto Parts, and Consumer Co-op. He was a jack of all trades and could fix, weld, and build about anything. Jim enjoyed the great outdoors, bear hunting, deer hunting, camping, fishing, and especially spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his children, Ken (Dawn), Mike (Kelly), Kris (Mark) Karls, Randy (Linda), Paul and Jessica (Lantz Roberts); 14 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; 4 siblings, Rosemary (Gayle) Zick, Kathy Sayler, Peter Robertson, Helen Lonkoski; former wives and mothers to his children, Gloria Frisk and Sue Robertson. He is further survived by many relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Betty Speth, Lucy Tomasik, Maryann Kelly, stepmother, Elsie Robertson and stepsister Nancy Grande.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20 th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City . A private burial service will be held at a later date.
Jim's family would like to thank his friends in the ADRC Lunch Group (Torrill and the gang), Connie Zimmerman and his good friend and neighbor Bernie Schroeder for always being there for him.
