James E. Wages Jr., age 84, passed away at his home on Monday, March 15, 2010. He was born August 22, 1925 in Fayetteville, Ark., the son of the late James Sr. and Ruth (Swink) Wages. He was united in marriage to Doreen Morrow on July 3, 1950. Jim served in the U.S. Armed Forces for 30 years, retiring as CW4 in 1972. He then worked at the Dorf Haus Restaurant and later DeCar Corp. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and 40 et 8, and also a member of the V.F.W. and Midland United Methodist Church. He served as Chef de Gar of 40 et 8 in 1988-89 and was also a national officer. Jim was also a 20 year volunteer at the V.A. Hospital pharmacy. He was a wonderful husband and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Doreen; three children, Krystal Wages, Debra (Fred) Hankel and Michael Wages, all of Mazomanie; four grandchildren, Laura Hankel, Fred Hankel Jr., Cody Wages and Kiley Wages; four great-grandchildren, Connor, Collin, Caden and Carson; two sisters, Emily (Robert) Gann of Wichita, Kansas and
Elizabeth "Betsy" Graham of Bella Vista, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Julie Wages of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a brother-in-law, John (Caroline) Morrow of Dane; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harry and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at Midland United Methodist Church, Highway KP, at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 19 with Pastor Dianne Vielhuber officiating, followed by military rites by the Mazomanie Am. Legion and Arena V.F.W. Interment will be held later in the Mazomanie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 18 at the Midland United Methodist Church and again on Friday one hour prior to service.
