Following retirement Jim introduced ball to his grandchildren by playing wiffle ball in the front yard. He enjoyed cheering on all of his grandchildren in athletics, dance, music, and all their activities. He was an avid bowler, loved fishing, gardening, and throwing horseshoes, and enjoyed playing cards regularly with friends. He loved being involved in the community in any way he could including working the football chain gang, officiating many community athletic events, and stopping to talk to anyone and everyone he knew. He was proud to be a part of the Sauk Prairie community.
He is survived by his wife Max; their three children: Jim and Cindy Jackson, Tim and Deb Jackson, and Kim and Terry Adler; grandchildren: Justine (Justin) Buroker, Leanne (Isaiah) Herzog, Jorie Jackson, Joscelyn (Troy Lenerz) Jackson, Sally (Mark) Ladsten, Holden (Montana Bruch) Jackson, Sarah Albers, Jacob Jackson, and Lane Albers; and great grandchildren Peyton, Georgia, Arabella, Harper, Theo, Kolton, Veronica, Ike, Gracie, Mabry, TJ, Emmett, and Louie.
