Obituary

Jane (Knoechel) Burton, age 88, passed away on June 23, 2010 at Oak Park Assisted Living, Baraboo. She was born in Milwaukee on March 5, 1922, the daughter of the late William and Emily (Johst) Knoechel. She was a graduate of Washington High School (Milwaukee) and was employed as a secretary. She was united in marriage to Jackson Burton on July 31, 1948. Jane was actively involved with the Girl Scout program for 15 years, earning the Thanks Badge and was a lifetime member of Eastern Star. She was an active volunteer at the Door County Memorial Hospital beginning in 1984. As an active member of Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church, she served as secretary and a member of Christian Women's Club. She loved gardening, arts and crafts, and knitting.

Jane is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Bruce) Puett of Sheridan, WY; a son, William (Connie) Burton of Baraboo; granddaughters, Cassandra of Sheridan, WY, Catherine (Jonathan) Barnett of Onalaska, WI, Emily (Michael) Fazio of New Berlin, WI; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Ainsley Barnett of Onalaska, WI; and 2 nieces and 1 nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents and a brother Donald.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Oak Street, Prairie du Sac, with Pastor Sally Mitchell officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church, Feed/Clothe My People in Sturgeon Bay, or Shriners Hospital for Children.
