Janet K. (McKean) Dohmann, age 95, of Sauk City, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Tulane, IL on September 5, 1916, the daughter of Leonard and Emily McKean. She married Russell Eugene Dohmann on June 21, 1941 in LeRoy, IL. Janet began her career teaching in Mt. Auburn, IL, then worked in the office at Kearney and Trecker in Milwaukee for several years. After raising her family she substitute taught for thirteen years for the Menomonee Falls, WI school system. Music was her love. She was active in Menomonee Falls community and church music programs when she lived there. She and Russell moved to Sauk City in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Russell E. Dohmann; her parents, Leonard and Emily McKean; and two brothers, James and Russel McKean.
She is survived by three children, William (Pat) of Stillwater, OK, Emily (Gordon) Carncross of Lodi, and Shirley of Neenah; 5 grandchildren, Scott Dohmann, Danielle (Brent) Queen, Sheila Dohmann, Craig (Jen) Carncross, and Caroline (Nate) Altfeather; 6 great-grandchildren, Madison, Lindsey and Kaden Queen, Gavin and Nolan Carncross, and Karmen Altfeather.
A funeral service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, with Pastor Jeff Virchow officiating. Burial will follow in the Sauk City Cemetery.
Janet's family extends special thanks to the caregivers at Maplewood Nursing Home for their care of Janet the past eleven years.
