Jeffrey Gerald Sweeney, age 58, passed way unexpectedly at his home on Mon. Nov. 14, 2016. He was born in Dodgeville on Apr. 26, 1958 to Gerald and Mary (Harrington) Sweeney. Jeff graduated Wis. Heights High School; class of 1976. He enjoyed working on the farm, making fine wine, truck and tractor pulls, Friday night car races at Oregon Speedway, tinkering with his pride and joy 1971 International Truck, four wheeling with family and friends, and flying kites with his grandchildren. Jeff worked as a custodian for 28 years.

He is survived by his parents, Gerald and Mary; Jeff's son, Bradley (Brittney) Topp and their children, Sofia, Jack, Bentley, and Beau; his fiancé, Karen Burkeland and her daughter, Kendra (Elijah) Mateni and their children, Mokaya and Maria; her son, Craig Burkeland and his children, Nathan and Makenna; Jeff's siblings, Pat Sweeney and his daughter, Bria, Tom (Corina) Sweeney and their son, Josh, Laurie (Rick) Christian and Laurie's children, Matthew and Amanda, Susan (Todd) Sawle and their children, Emily, Tyler and Sam, Lisa Sweeney; a niece Megan Alexander; and Jeff's beloved cat, Bugsy. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Angie Sweeney and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Rose Harrington; and a sister, Julie Gasser.

As per Jeff's wishes, a private family service will be held.
