Obituary

Jerry D. Deischer, 73, of Roxbury, WI passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Venice Regional Bayfront Hospital, Venice, Florida. He was born on July 9, 1941 in Baraboo, the son of Wayne (Donald) and Marcella (Accola) Deischer. Jerry was united in marriage to Elizabeth A. (Betty) Reuter on October 12, 1963 at St. Norbert Catholic Church in Roxbury, WI.

He is survived by his wife Betty; three children, Chris (Todd Pauley), Jim (Sarah), Jeff (Kristina); four grandchildren, Nichole (Jimi) and Chad Pauley, Sydney and Finley Deischer and one great grandchild, Isabelle; sister, Nancy (Lee) Francke; sister-in-laws, Angie (Mike) Haller and Lois Reuter; Uncles, Harvey (Marge) Accola and Rodney Williams; and Aunt Lois Reuter. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne (Donald) and Marcella; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Norbert and Sara (Sally) Reuter; Aunt Dorothy Williams; Aunt and Uncles June (John) Norton and Donna (Leonard) Wilson.

He attended Prairie du Sac High School, Class of 1959. He served in the Air National Guard Reserve US Air Force and farmed for 10 years in Black Hawk. He worked for 35 years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the University Hospitals, the University Physical Plant and the University Division of Information Technology before retiring in 2004. Post retirement, he enjoyed working part-time for FS Frontier Coop-Marxville and United Coop-Sauk Prairie.

He was a member and Midwest Director of The Vintage Garden Tractor Club of America, attending tractor shows with friends throughout the USA. He was also a member of The Badger Steam and Gas Club-Baraboo. He was a former member of the White Lightening Snowmobile Club-Roxbury. He was a member of the Sauk Prairie Historical Society and enjoyed the history of the Sauk Prairie area as well as Venice, Florida. He was a member of St. Norbert Catholic Church and past financial secretary of the Black Hawk Council 3099 Knights of Columbus.

Jerry and Betty enjoyed traveling to the 48 states on their Goldwing motorcycle with his sister and brother-in-law. They enjoyed spending the winter months at the Beachcomber in Venice, Florida with their snowbird friends. He was a NASCAR fan and attended races at Daytona and Talladega. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading local authors and U.S. war history. He loved to work on the genealogy of his family and Betty's. He was ready and willing to help his friends, particularly those with computer issues. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great granddaughter, family and friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to everyone at the Beachcomber in Venice, Florida, the staff at the Venice Regional Bayfront Hospital, family and friends that offered support during Jerry's brief illness.

A visitation will be held from 9-11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2nd at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, Roxbury.
