Joan M. Ryan, age 83, of West Point Township passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2024 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison surrounded by family.  She was born at August 16, 1941 at St. Mary's Ringling Hospital in Baraboo to the late Donald and Margaret (Przybylski) Miller.  Joan was united in marriage to James "Jim" C. Ryan in July 30, 1966 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Baraboo.  Jim and Joan celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2016.  Following her graduation from High School she worked at the Baraboo National Bank and later at Wisconsin Telephone Co. until 1976 when the Baraboo Office closed.  She and Jim farmed in the West Point Township on their Dairy and Beef farm until 1999 when they sold the cows.  They continued to raise dairy heifers for and crop farm.

Joan enjoyed working with her computer researching family genealogy; and was always ready to assist anyone with technical problems anytime anyone needed help.  She enjoyed gardening and for many years used those skills to care for many family graves.  Joan looked forward to deer hunting, snowshoeing in the winter and classic country music and was proud to have been a breast cancer survivor for many years.  Joan was a pioneer for the West Point Township Historical Society; serving as the "temporary president" from 2003 until her health forced her resignation in 2014.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; her brother Joe (Mary) Miller.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives from both the Miller and Ryan families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, Oct. 14, 2024 at St. Patrick's Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 521 Fair St., Lodi.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to service.  Interment will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Sauk City.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
