Joanne M. Breunig, age 81, passed away July 21st, 2025, at her home with her husband Ralph by her side.

Joanne was born in Baraboo, Wi on January 30th, 1944, the daughter of the late Floyd and Dorothy (Reed) Borkenhagen. She grew up on the family farm on Hwy 136 in Baraboo and attended a one room school just up the hill.

Joanne was united in marriage to Ralph E. Breunig (the love of her life and best friend) on August 20th, 1988. Joanne and Ralph built a home in Harlow Acres in Prairie Du Sac, Wi. She worked at Fiskars in Sauk City until she retired. After retiring Joanne enjoyed gardening, baking, canning garden foods, crafting, sewing and watching the birds outside. Joanne loved Ralph very much. Joanne and Ralph also cherished the time spent with their grandchildren, great grandchildren and Holidays with family.

Survivors include her husband Ralph Breunig, five children Tim (Dena) Weinke, Tammy (Tim) Hinz, Ted (Brenda) Weinke, Toni Weinke, Todd (Betsy) Weinke, 11 grandchildren Trevor, Tyler, Alex, Aaren, Mike, Matt, Madi, Brittany, Keagan, Khloee, Kaylee and 2 very special grand puppies Monkey and the late Cooper Weinke. Joanne also has 8 great grandchildren Bentlee, Brooke, Taytum, Ryan, Cole, Austen, Brooks, Finnegan, and baby due in September 2025. Joanne is also survived by brothers Gary (Bernadette) Borkenhagen, Jim Borkenhagen, sister Shirley Belter and many other family members and friends.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Dorothy Wiese, Ethel Hill, Carol Levesque, Lois Borkenhagen, Julie Belter and a brother Bill Borkenhagen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday July 29th, 2025, at St. Aloysius Church 115 Madison St., Sauk City, Wi 53583 with Father Miquel Galvez officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:30 AM until 10:45AM at Hooverson Funeral Home 251 Water St., Sauk City, Wi 53583. Burial will be held at the St. Aloysius Cemetery with a lunch following at The Dorf Haus 8931 County Hwy Y, Sauk City, Wi 53583. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joanne's name may be given to The Heart Association, heart.org or Dementia Society of America dementiasocietyofamerica.org.
