John W. Lyon, age 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Prairie du Sac on Sunday, December 4, 2011. He was born in Waukesha on March 13, 1950 to John and Helen (Rankin) Lyon. John was an avid train and model rocket enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an active member of The Dekorra Lutheran Church in Poynette, the Sauk Prairie Lions Club and Sauk Prairie Music Association. John enjoyed teaching children and adults. He was the past Principal at Tower Rock Elementary School and most recently was teaching Geology at the Portage M.A.T.C campus.


He is survived by his mother, Helen; brother, Jim (Crystal) Lyon; sister, Patricia Lyon, children, Matthew (Danielle) Weis, Sara (Brandon) Weis and Carrie Weis.


He was preceded in death by his father John, and his wife Sandra.


A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11:00am at Dekorra Lutheran Church, N. 3099 Smith Rd., Poynette. Interment will be held at Highland Memory Park, New Berlin.
