John Matthew Mecher, age 80, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Home Health United Hospice Center in Baraboo. He was born in Chicago, Il on May 27, 1930 to the late John and Catherine (Schmidt) Mecher. John proudly served in the United States Air Force. He married Patricia Susan Krul on September 13, 1952 in Chicago, Il. John worked for the Teamsters Local 744 as a business agent. Upon retiring John and Patricia moved to Wisconsin, where John became very involved with volunteering for Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital, St. Vincent DePaul, and the Prairie du Sac Library.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, Sauk City.

Daughter; Susan (Greg) Strzalkowski, Mt. Prospect, Il.
Son in-law; Wayne (Valerie Banks) Schwarzkopf, Wisconsin Dells.
Daughter in-law; Cassandra Beltrons, Chicago, Il.

6 grand-children; Gregory II and John Strzalkowski, Nathan (Diane Tomko), Christopher (Minami), Paul (Emily Gaddard) Schwarzkopf, and Lucas Banks.

2 great grand-daughters; Jasmine and Mia Schwarzkopf.

1 brother; Peter Mecher, Oshkosh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Denise Schwarzkopf and a son Michael Mecher.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac, WI. Friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's name to the Prairie du Sac Library.
