Obituary
John A. Ptak, age 69, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born in Wausau on November 8, 1944, the son of John and Marlys (Stieber) Ptak.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during Viet Nam. John was united in marriage to Sophie Sobczyk. He was employed at Meridian Group, where he enjoyed working with his co-workers, and his family thanks them for their support.
He is survived by his wife, Sophie; three daughters, Laura (Tim) Cook, Marla (Manny) Sparks and Deborah Matusek; his mother, Marlys Ptak; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Crystal, Erin, Kevin, Madelyn and Mason; a sister, Marlys (Bill) McKee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; and a grandson, Andrew.
A memorial service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to raptoreducation group.org.
