John E. Sorg, age 81, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Pine Villa in Prairie du Sac. He was born in Troy Township, Sauk County, on November 18, 1929, the son of the late Howard and Viola (Sprecher) Sorg. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Seitz on February 6, 1949 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Black Hawk. John was a lifelong farmer in the Harrisburg area.


He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 6 children, Steve (Connie) Sorg, Bonnie (Duane) Lins, Jim (Renee) Sorg, Phil (Matilda) Sorg, Lana (Dick) Elliott and Julie (Tom) Meixelsperger; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Calvin (Phyllis) Sorg; two sisters, Joyce (Wilfred) Gasser and June (Bob) Sater; a sister-in-law, Joyce Sorg; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, H. Fred Sorg, and a grandson, Timothy Sorg.


A memorial service will be held at BETHLEHEM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Black Hawk, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011 with Pastor Kendall Schlittler officiating. A time of fellowship will follow. Family interment in Harrisburg Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
