Obituary

John Swafford, passed away on August 22, 2015 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie.John was born on October 8, 1933 to Marcella and Alex (Wesley) Swafford in Baraboo WI, the youngest of four children. He lived in Baraboo and the surrounding area during childhood and graduated from Baraboo High School. He worked at Badger Army Ammunition Plant where he met his wife, Ina (Wegner) and married in 1953. John served in the Army and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.



John worked at Madison Newspapers until 1970 when he went to work for Mueller Sports Medicine in Prairie du Sac, WI. He had a forty year career at Mueller and retired in 2013 as Vice President.



He was a 58 year member of the Masonic Lodge, No. 113 F&A.M in Prairie du Sac, WI. He was an active member of Concordia United Methodist Church and served on a number of boards and committees. He loved gardening, woodworking, bowling and being with his family.



John is survived by his wife Ina; three children, John Jr. (Sara), Palatine, IL, Suzanne, Denver, CO, Jeffrey, (Dora) Sun Prairie; three granddaughters, Brianna, Monica and Madison, also of Sun Prairie WI; his eldest sister, Lorayne Webster, Ooltewah TN; his brother in law, Keith Wegner, Stevensville, MI; sister in law, Bonnie Bryant, Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores (Cindy) Socall, Joyce Kaufman; three brothers in law, Dale Kaufman, Herb Socall, and Marvin Webster; one sister in law, Diane Wegner and one nephew, Tom Kaufman.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Concordia United Methodist Church, Prairie du Sac, WI, with Pastor Doris Simpson officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia United Methodist Church, Prairie du Sac, WI.
