Obituary

Joseph E Sinklair, age 96, passed away peacefully at his home at Maplewood Village in Sauk City on January 26 2025.  He was born in Milwaukee, WI, to the late Anthony and Emily (Massek) Sinklair on Aug. 8, 1928.  He was united in marriage to Donna Mae Brugger in 1949; she preceded him in 2015.  Donna and Joe raised 4 sons.  Joe worked at Kearney and Trecker in Milwaukee, WI and Weber Marking Systems in Arlington Heights, IL. Joe was in the Army Reserve and left with a rank of MSG.   They retired and moved to Prairie du Sac for 10 years.  Neither of them liked the cold weather so they moved to Florida.  Joe was a Volunteer Fireman in New Berlin and Prairie du Sac and volunteered with the Angel Flight in FL.  While in FL, he continued to work as a starter at his local golf course and at the community pool.  Donna and Joe loved to golf.  He was a meticulous woodworker and made beautiful clocks, furniture, golf clubs and more while Donna made award winning quilts.

Joe returned to WI to be closer to family.  Although he hated the cold, he never complained about having to move north.  He was described as a classy man by the staff and residents at Maplewood Village who loved and took great care of him.  During WWII, Joe and his dad went to the Navy recruiting office to enlist.  The Navy offered a program joining in High School you could finish school upon return.  They wouldn't enlist Joe because he didn't have his birth certificate.  The following day, August 6, 1945, the Americans dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, marking the end of the war.  If Joe had enlisted, he wouldn't have finished High School, married and had children in the same way.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Emily Sinklair and wife Donna.  Joe is survived by 4 sons, Paul (Sharon), Robert (Diane), Michael (Terese) and Joseph.  His sister Eileen Dietz and brother-in-law Carl Brugger (Julie). His grandchildren include; Paul Sinklair, Jr (Laurie), Michelle Aguirre (Andy), Jamie Cassaday-Gonzales, step-grandson (Robbie) , Maxwell Sinklair (Melissa), Melinda Fournier (Joe), Tamara Rasmussen, Tiffany Becker (Erich), Calvin Sinklair (mother Lisa Lorenzi), Haley Sinklair (mother Lisa); he is further survived by, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Joe's family would like to thank Maplewood Village for all the love and support they've given him.

As per Joe's wishes, a private family burial will be held in the Rienzi Cemetery, Fond du Lac.
