Joseph Hooker Sr., age 80, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born in Vernon County on December 13, 1929, the son of the late Frank and Millie (Snorek) Hooker. Mr. Hooker was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Irene Gieck on February 4, 1956. He loved being a farmer for most of his life in Honey Creek, retiring in 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; 3 children, Joseph Jr., Barbara, and James (friend Melissa Patterson); 2 brothers, Adolph (Eva) of Baraboo and William (Dawneen) of Rock Springs; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; as well as fur grandchildren, Snickers and Maxie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Rudolph, Ernest and Francis; and sisters-in-law, Nettie and Hedie.
Funeral services will held Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Jennifer Fite, his great-niece officiating. Burial will be in the Sauk City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the funeral home.
