Josephine "Josie" Froese, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 16, 2018 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie.

Josie was born in Germany on Oct 4, 1930.  She was united in marriage to Karl Froese on Oct 20, 1946.  Together in 1951 they made the long travel to the United States with their first born son and a suitcase.  Together they instilled in their children that a hard days work pays off in the end.

Josie was employed by Wisconsin Dairies for 25 years, later retiring from there.

After retirement you could find her outside in the summer months tending to the vegetable garden or her flower gardens.  Always willing to make a home cooked meal for any friend or family that would stop by.  In the winter months she kept herself busy knitting, crocheting blankets, or hand sewing many quilts.  All of her children and grandchildren have many quilts to remember her by.

She is survived by her four children, Leo (Karen) Froese of Prairie du sac, Henry (Judy) Froese of Prairie du sac, Roland (Sheila) Froese of Sauk City, Debby Mahoney (John Kerr) of Sauk City;  Seven grandchildren, Bradley (Tina) Froese, Stacy Evert (Mark), Brian (Shana) Froese, Cory (Jolene), Michelle (Justin) Grosse, Crystal (Shawn) Fahrenkampf, Thomas R. Mahoney (Sonya); And 11 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Karl, and a son-in-law Thomas A. Mahoney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, June 22, 2018 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 10:00 am until 11:15 am at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, WI.

The family  would like to thank the staff at Maplewood for the loving care that was provided for our mother.  And an extra thank you to her granddaughter Crystal, who checked in on her everyday at work and for  bringing her a special lunch on occasion.

May you be at peace now at dads side again.  Miss you now and forever.
