Joyce E. Kaufman, age 78, of Sauk City, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 after a brief illness. Joyce was born in Baraboo on November 14, 1931 to the late Alex and Marcella (Miller) Swafford. On September 15, 1951 she married Dale C. Kaufman and together they farmed the family farm in Troy Township until his death on July 18, 2000. Joyce is survived by four children, Thomas (Ruth) of Sauk City, Jerald (Nancy) of Sauk City, Michael (Cindy) of Baraboo, and Linda (Doug) Mabie of Prairie du Sac; eight grand-children, Jennifer (friend, Scott Thompson) Mabie, Holly (Joel) Walker, Tina, Alexandra, Cydney, Arielle, Emily and Nathan Kaufman; and great-grandson Dylan Walker. She is further survived by a brother John (Ina) Swafford of Prairie du Sac; and sisters, Lorayne Webster of Ooltewah, TN, and Dolores Socall of Madison. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Marvin Webster and Herbert Socall. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac, with Pastor Sally Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 5pm until 8pm, and one hour prior to service on Wednesday.
