Obituary

Judy A. Millard, age 77, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at U.W. Hospital in Madison, after a hard-fought battle with complications from an aortic aneurysm. She was born on February 25, 1948, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, to Leonard and Mildred (Preston) Ambrose. Judy graduated from Sauk Prairie High School with the Class of 1966.

She began her professional journey by founding Drapery Elegance in Sauk City, where she helped customers with window coverings and accessories. Later, her mother, Mildred, took over the business, and Judy began a 25+ year career with Graber/Springs Window Fashions, ultimately retiring in 2014.  Judy was an exceptional seamstress—she could sew, fix, mend, or create just about anything one could imagine. Her resourcefulness extended far beyond sewing: when it came time to remodel her home, she did much of the work herself. If she didn't know how, she was determined to learn.

She loved having coffee with her girlfriends and took great pride in her flower garden, where she enjoyed peaceful moments on the patio. Above all, Judy cherished time with her family. Being called "Grandma" meant everything to her. From the delivery room to graduations, games, and milestones, she was always there—making clothes, sharing wisdom, and offering unconditional love. She was not only a beloved grandmother, but also a guiding presence and steady anchor in her grandchildren's lives.  Judy was also a proud NASCAR fan.

She is survived by her son, Travis (Rachel) Millard; daughter, Tonya Stevenson; son-in-law Adam Stevenson and beloved grandchildren, Sadie (Stevie) Becker, Nico Stevenson, and Sasha Stevenson. She is also survived by her siblings, Dorene (Jim) Stoffels and Richard (Judy) Ambrose, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

A service for Judy will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the First United Church, 504 Washington Ave., Sauk City, WI.  A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service.  A luncheon in the church will follow.

Judy's family would like to express their gratitude to the cardiac unit, the ICU staff, and Dr. Yamanouchi at U.W. Hospital for their compassion provided to Judy during her extended stay.
