Judy A. (Marty) Schendel, age 70 of Mazomanie, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011 surrounded by family at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Madison on March 31, 1940, to the late Leo & Marie (Linley) Handel. She was united in marriage to Ramon R. Schendel on July 25, 1974. She was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, Mazomanie.
She is survived by her husband Ray of Mazomanie; four children, Bob (Linda) Marty, of Cross Plains, Lisa (Neal) Strang, of Mazomanie, Renee (Bob) Bratton, of Black Earth, Beth Marty (Tom Parrell), of Black Earth; five grandchildren, Cody & Shane Zwettler, Alyssa Jax-Marty, Kaitlyn & Jessica Marty; a sister Donna (Bill) Linley , of Mazomanie, a brother Mark (Connie) Handel, of Mazomanie, many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Ray's brother and sister's and their spouses.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Korrisa Marty; her father & mother in law, Ann & Rinehart Schendel.

A funeral service will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, Mazomanie on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the St. Barnabas Cemetery. A visitation for family & friends will be held from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Hooverson Funeral Home in Mazomanie.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home & Home Health United Hospice for their wonderful & loving care given to Judy during her stay. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sherry Peterson for her generosity and humor which helped brighten Mom's final days.
Judy loved spending time with family and attending family gatherings. She loved music, especially Polka music. In Judy's younger years, her favorite pastime was going out to local establishments, listening and dancing to the best local bands. May you dance again in heaven, Mom!
