Julie Ann Hosig, age 92, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Monday, August 20, 2012 at her home in Sauk City. She was born Jan 11, 1920 in Bear Valley to the late Joseph and Madeline (Stoltz) Gassen. Julie owned and operated Monk and Julie's Bar in Prairie du Sac for over 20 years. She was a former member of the Sauk County Tavern League, enjoyed cooking, playing cards, quilting, spending her winters in St. Petersburg, Florida for over 25 years, and many years ago she once raced a stock car at the "Powder Puff" held at the Helena Speedway.


Survivors are her children,
Bill (Mary Ann) Cummings of Sauk City, Gerald Cummings of Prairie du Sac, Illa Rae (George) Ballweg of Prairie du Sac, Patricia Haas of Sauk City, Judy (Ron Peetz) Bible of Merrimac, and stepson, Louie (Frieda) Weston of Spring Green; 11 grandchildren, Tim (Kristen) Cummings, Michelle (Dennis) Delaney, Michael (Sara) Cummings, Melanie (Brad) Suchla, Todd (Nikki) Ballweg, Kevin (Jolene) Ballweg, Steven (LuAnn) Haas, Lynn (Ryan) Reed, Lonnie (Kathy) Bible, Teresa (James) Sylte, and Douglas (Ambre) Bible;
24 great-grandchildren; a sister- in-law, Catherine Ramsden; and a special niece, Maxine (Ralph) Haas of Spring Green.


She was preceded in death by three husbands, Ray "Butch" Cummings, Cyril "Monk" Weston, and Roger "Bud" Hosig; two sons-in-law, Stanley Haas and Harold Bible; a sister, Georgianna McNurlin; and a brother Donald Gassen.


A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 11:00am at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, with Fr. John Blewett officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
