Julie Ann Mellum, age 52, passed away at her home on Fri. June, 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family, after a yearlong battle with cancer.
She was born in Prairie du Sac on July 15, 1963 to William and Donna (Handel) Linley. Julie grew up in the town of Mazomanie where she continued to live and build her own paradise out in the country. She was united in marriage to David W. Mellum at St. Barnabas in Mazomanie on April 16, 1983. Julie worked at Wolf-Subzero in Fitchburg for the last 13 years, a job she enjoyed and prided herself in. She had a passion for bird watching; among her favorites were bluebirds, loons, butterflies and eagles. Julie had a strong faith in God and had a love of the outdoors. She could be found tending to her flowers, garden and ponds surrounding her beautiful home. She enjoyed camping and traveling and looked forward to annual trips to Copper Harbor, Lake Superior, Pictured Rock and the waterfalls up north where she would explore lighthouses and collect rocks for her home garden.
Julie is survived by her husband, Dave; 3 children, Rich (Kari) Linley, Melissa (Jon Novotny) Mellum, and Cassandra (Nick) Burgette; 3 grandchildren, Blake, Aiden and Colton Linley; her dad, Bill Linley; her mother in-law, Nancy (Gene) Bruegeman; 5 siblings, Dan (Brenda) Linley, Jackie (Steve) Reindl, Tom (Sharon) Linley, Marilyn (Bill) Zander, Marie (Mike Garfoot) Aeschlimann. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Linley, her father in-law, Bill Mellum, and a niece, Brianna Zander.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wed. June, 8 2016 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy 14, West, Mazomanie. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tues., June 7, 2016 and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in the St. James Cemetery, Vermont Twnshp.
Julie's family would like to express their sincere gratitude for all the love and support during this chapter of her life. A special thank you to the staff of Agrace Hospice Care for providing care and love during Julie's last days. A big thank you to everyone who visited her and loved her as much as we do.
