June Koenig, age 88, died peacefully in her sleep at Saint Mary's Care Center, Madison on Sunday, August 7, 2016. She was born on March 21, 1928, the daughter of the late Christ and Edna Gieck. June was united in marriage to the late Willis Koenig and lived in Denzer and later moved to Madison. She was employed by Oscar Meyer for many years, she loved to bake and play cards. June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolee (James) Zick of Madison; two granddaughters, Stacey (Chad) Corfits and Cindy Zick of Madison; five great grandchildren, Paige, Meadow, Caeden Corfits, Savannah and Melody Hill of Madison; sisters in law, Gloria (Jim) Pierce, Delphine Koenig, Erna Gieck.

She was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jayce Anderson, three brothers, Harvey, Orville, and Lyle Gieck.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who took care of June "June Bug" at Saint Mary's Care Center of Madison.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 12, 2016 at St John Lutheran Church, Leland with Pastor Erich Hartenberger officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church on Friday.
