Karen Marie (Emery) Foster, 83, of Sauk Prairie, passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2024, peacefully at home. Karen was born in Whitehall, Wisconsin on May 25, 1941, to Dewitt and Laurelda Emery. Her family relocated to Sauk City where she grew up as the youngest of 8. As a young girl, she developed and cherished relationships with many of her nieces and nephews. She married the love of her life, Roger Foster, on August 22, 1959. They settled and started a family to complete it with 8 children.

Karen was a devoted wife and a kind selfless person. She enjoyed working 40-plus years as a certified nursing assistant at the community hospital in the nursery. As a very talented crafter, she enjoyed making treasured gifts for those she loved or anyone in need. If she wasn't rocking a baby to sleep, crocheting a hat, crafting, or gardening she was cooking and baking up a storm and was always prepared to feed an army or just family and friends. The first stop when visiting her was the cookie jar to taste test.

Survivors include her children: Rodger (Christina), Julie (Thomas) Endres, Jeffrey (Lynn), Mark (Nancy), Melodie (Jeff) Sliter, Kristen (Rick) Wenzel, and James (Sharon), 22 grandchildren: Melissa, Andrea, Ashley, Rachel, Matt, Brittney, Heidi, Sam, Hannah, Aaron, Eli, TJ, Alex, Daniel, Madeline, Simon, Stuart, Johnathan, Aleksa, Mariah, Isiah, and Elijah. 27 great-grandchildren; sister Viorene Schroeder, beloved friends Butch and Jackie Stoffels along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, son, Paul Grant, parents, siblings: Lee, Marcella, Catherine, Helen, Joan, and Janice, in-laws: Leonard and Marion Foster, Genevieve and Warren Wiste, godson Jason Stoffels, and special dog Norman.

The visitation will be held at the Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City on September 9, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Her family will be present to welcome loved ones. A celebration of life will be held on September 10, 2024, at Prairie Landing at Culver Community Park in Prairie du Sac, WI. For the celebration of life, there will be a visitation one hour before service at 2:00 p.m., with a luncheon to follow.

Karen will be remembered for her compassionate care and many talents by her family, numerous foster children, neighbors, and hundreds of babies who were fitted with hats she crocheted with love.
