Karen Jean Lobrillo-Liska, age 80, of Sauk Prairie, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg on July 13, 2026.
She was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on April 30, 1946, to Edward and Francis (Opalecky) Liska. She graduated from Proviso West High School in Hillside, Illinois.
Karen found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved getting lost in a good book, watching the Food Network, enjoying a great Hallmark movie, and could never pass up a competitive game of solitaire. She was an exceptional baker, her homemade scotcheroos and oatmeal raisin cookies were family favorites that never lasted long. She enjoyed taking walks, volunteering with Agrace Hospice, and spending time with the people she loved.
Above all else, Karen’s greatest joy in life was her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and there was almost nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was always there to lend a helping hand, whether it was babysitting, offering support, or simply being present when they needed her most. You could always find her in the bleachers cheering them on at wrestling meets, swim meets, football games, soccer games, hockey games, track meets, cross country meets, dance recitals, concerts, and school events. You name it, she was there.
Karen had a servant’s heart and never hesitated to put others before herself. Whether someone needed a haircut, something sewn or ironed, a ride across town, a listening ear, or help with a stubborn stain on their clothes, she was always there without being asked. She was the go-to person for anything that needed fixing or figuring out, and somehow, she always had a way of making things better. Her daily “good morning” text messages became a cherished tradition that brightened countless days and will be deeply missed.
Karen’s legacy is one of unconditional love, generosity, and quiet selflessness. She never sought recognition for the many ways she cared for others, she simply showed up, time and time again, for the people she loved. Her kindness touched countless lives, and the memories she created with her family will be treasured forever. She will be missed beyond measure, but her love will continue to live on in all those fortunate enough to have known her.
She is survived by her children, Amy (Aaron) Halverson and Greg (Kim) Lobrillo; grandchildren, James Wixom, Taylor (Derek) Hug, Christopher (Jessica) Chrisler, Christian (Alex) Chrisler, Reagan Chrisler, and Dylan (Chloe) Lobrillo; great-grandchildren, Finley, Huxley, Cora, Gideon, Monica, and Emberlyn; siblings, Nancy (Monty) Tuinstra and Mike (Eileen) Liska. Karen is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Francis (Opalecky) Liska; her son-in-law, Jeff Chrisler; and her infant great-granddaughter, Rory.
