Kellie Marie Matz, age 50, passed away peacefully at her home in Prairie du Sac on Oct. 10, 2021.  She was born Oct. 22, 1970 to Carl Bernhardt and Deloris Weisinger.  As a young girl, she lived in Washington and later Kenosha where she graduated High School.  Kellie was united in marriage to Steven R. Berger and together they had 2 children, Jacob and Jasmine.  She worked for several years at Cuttin Pleasure in Sauk City as a hairstylist.  Kellie married Gary Matz on July 20, 2002.  She returned to school and graduated from U.W. Madison with a B.S. in Clinical Lab Science and Biomolecular Chemistry graduating in 2006.  Kellie worked for U.W. HealthCare as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist mainly out of the Cross Plains Clinic. She was proud of her accomplishments and enjoyed her career and the people she worked with over the years. She loved animals, her dogs, dragons, cross-stitching, reading, and her family.

Kellie is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Jacob Berger and Jasmine (Xavier Anderson) Berger and their children, Allison, Archer, and Ava; her parents, Dorie Callen and Carl Bernhardt; stepfather, Larry Risner and half-brother, Carl Bernhardt Jr.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Risner and the father of her children, Steven Berger.

A Celebration of Kellie's Life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 at the Sauk Prairie Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694, VFW Drive Prairie du Sac from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
