Obituary

Kevin Michael Statz, known to many as "Boober," was born to Norbert M. "Norby" Statz and Patricia "Patsy" Eckstein Statz on November 5, 1959. After a brave fight against aggressive brain cancer, he peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

From a young age, Kevin embodied the spirit of hard work. Known as an all-around "good man," Kevin was no stranger to laborious, body-breaking tasks. He took pride in lending a helping hand wherever it was needed, dedicating countless hours to clearing brush and maintaining trails and land around the village of Mazomanie. This extended to his own property, where he maintained trails for off-road motorcycle competitions.

In his younger days, Kevin was a thrill seeker, often found racing around on his dirt bike and snowmobiles or hammering his blue Ford pickup truck around town. He taught his kids how to ride a four-wheeler, encouraging them to take chances and enjoy the speed. As the years went by, he transitioned from a speedster to a doting grandfather, happy to give his grandkids slower paced rides on his ATV, sharing the joy of adventure with the next generation.

An enthusiast of all things mechanical, Kevin also found joy in his workshop where he spent hours tinkering with various trucks and machinery with his sons. His hands, calloused from years of hard work, crafted not just machines but memories—many of them made over conversations at job sites or hearty breakfasts at Gordon's and Rookies where he would socialize with friends and locals.

Above all, Kevin's proudest achievement was his role as father and grandfather. Whether it was teaching his kids to tie their shoes, putting his grandkids to work, riding together with them in the cab of his skid steer or enjoying breakfast outings together, he cherished the time spent with his family.  We also find comfort in knowing that Kevin is reunited with his son, Jacob, who passed away a few years ago—a loss that weighed heavily on his heart. Jacob, however, probably welcomed him with "What the hell took you so long—we have work to do!"

Kevin leaves behind a legacy that should be an inspiration to those who knew him.  He helped neighbors, friends and strangers, whether called upon or not, a lesson for us all to remember and carry forward in his honor.

Kevin is survived by his children; Alizabeth (Ryan) Brunner, Cody (Barb) Statz, Kelsea Statz, Andrew (Brittney Wagner) Statz, and Madeline (Chance Jepson) Statz; special friend and mother of the children, Amy Statz; grandchildren, Raelyn and Cashton Brunner, Lila Statz, Kaylee Statz, Aeden Tiedeman, deceased son Jacob's children: Brayden and Rilyn Statz, Raymond and Taylor Statz, Penelope and Theodore Jepson; his brother, Kim Statz; he is further survived by a niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Patricia Statz and his son, Jacob Statz.
