Obituary

Laura A. Slotty, age 107, died on Monday, September 7, 2009 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Honey Creek township, Sauk County, on July 5, 1902, the daughter of the late William and Amelia (Lohr) Wenzel. She was united in marriage to Paul Slotty on May 26, 1929. The couple farmed in Honey Creek. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1980. Laura was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Leland, where she was the church organist for many years. She is survived by four children, Robert of Sauk City, Roman (Inky) of North Freedom, Ruth Evert of North Freedom, and Ralph (Helen) of Sauk City; 7 grandchildren, Bonnie (Dick) Gruber, Tim (Lisa) Evert, Jackie (Randy) Boettcher, Mike (Lisa) Slotty, Matt (Becky) Slotty, Don (Ann) Slotty, and Tammy Cooper; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-granddaughter; 2 sisters-in-law, Helen Wenzel and Adela Slotty; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by and infant son, Donald; son-in-law, Harvey Evert; step-grandson, Jeff Westedt; 3 brothers, William, Edward and Oliver Wenzel; 2 sisters, Emma Kuhnau and Ella Denzer. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, Leland, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009 with Pastor Peter Heide officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday after 9:30 a.m. "Mom, we will miss you and thanks for being a good example."
