LaVera M. White, age 96, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born June 25, 1915 in Westfield, the daughter of the late Ernest and Blanche (Schutz) Koenig. She was united in marriage to Irvin White on August 27, 1941. Together, they farmed in Westfield Township. The couple moved to Baraboo and later retired to Sauk City.
Survivors include four children, Dennis (Carol) White of Reedsburg,
Sandra (Robert) Gade of Sauk City,
Linda (James) Slingland of Salesville, Ohio and
Rodonna (Ernest) DeKeyser of Janesville; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. LaVera was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Pastor Lyle Koenig, and an infant grandson, Benjamin Slingland.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 624 East Street, Baraboo. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, North Freedom.
LaVera was a compassionate, generous person, who was always willing to help others in need. She was a kind, gentle, and loving mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
