LaVerne F. "Lee" Emery, age 92, died peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI. He was born on February 15, 1924 on French Island in La Crosse , Wisconsin the son of DeWitt and Laurelda (Wiskirchen) Emery.


Lee grew up in northern Wisconsin and graduated from Whitehall High School on April 30, 1942. He joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from February 22, 1943 thru December 13, 1945 with an honorable discharge. Lee especially enjoyed talking about his service during the "European Theatre" and receiving several service related medals, as well as participating in the Battle of the Bulge.


Upon return from military service, Lee graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was a sales representative his entire career, traveling throughout Wisconsin and other States.
Lee was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the U.W. Badgers football and the Green Bay Packers.



Survivors include his three sisters, Joan (Wayne) Pfeiffer, Viorene (Ken) Schroeder, and Karen (Roger) Foster; and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marcella Page, Janice Soelle, Catherine Schwanke and Helen Richards; brothers in law, Lloyd Page, Robert Soelle and Clinton Schwanke.


The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Lee's Senior helper, Sandra Reynolds for her kindness and loving care and to his niece and her husband, Jeanie and Chuck Hadden for their kind attention and care.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, WI. Burial with military honors will follow at the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
